Rat Roadhouse

You have a pet WHAT? EW!

All rat lovers have heard the line at least once. Why in the world would you want a rat? Why not a hamster/gerbil/anything in the world but a rat? Maybe you are not a rat owner yet, and are on the brink of deciding.

The Top Ten Reasons To Own A Rat

  1. Rats are more intelligent. - They can learn their names and do tricks.

  2. Rats are clean animals. -They don't usually have bugs unless your house does. They can be litter trained. They clean themselves constantly. They are usually easier to bathe than a cat.

  3. Rats are compact. - Yep, they are pocket pets. Sometimes they prefer to hide in your shirt, or on your neck.

  4. Rats don't usually bite. - The few times I have ever been bitten was when I came across a biter (one out of twenty) or more commonly when I held out a treat the wrong way. They mistake fingers as treats if you aren't holding it right.

  5. Rats don't bark.- You won't have neighbors complaining about the rats keeping them up all night.

  6. Rats love attention. - They love to be held and cuddled and kissed. They can spend hours sleeping all day and the minute you come home are ready to play and be loved.

  7. Rats are good pets for kids. - They are better at allowing a child to hold them. Even small children can enjoy watching their antics.

  8. Rats don't cost much. - Okay, like any pet their is a cage investment. There are no annual shots, no licensing fees. Also, rats like homemade toys like boxes just as much as store bought ones.

  9. Rats love to share. - Just eat a bowl of food with a rat in your lap. Before long you will be sharing your soup, cereal, salad or whatever.

  10. Rats dedicate their lives to you. - You are making a 2-4 year investment of your life to a pet who in turn is sharing their whole little life with you. They ask only for a clean home, good food, clean water, and a little love in return.
